Absence of Leave Request
You can download our Absence Request Form for parents and carers at the bottom of this page or request a paper version from the school office. Before completing the form, please read our Attendance Policy. Thank you.
Punctuality
Being punctual for school is a great start to the day - putting your child in a positive frame of mind to make the most of the day’s learning and activities. Punctuality is linked to good attendance, and as we know, good attenders have more opportunities, more support and therefore achieve more! ALSO… It helps your child make friends (in the playground) which leads to improved social outcomes and self-esteem.
As we have identified that an increasing number of children are missing 15 minutes (or more in some cases) of lesson time a day, all gates will close at 8:50am instead of 8:55am. In years 1 to 6, children should be sat down and learning by 8:45 every day. By missing just 15 minutes a day, some children are missing a hour and a quarter every week which adds up to a lot of lost learning in a year.
Miss Roseaman and the Education Welfare Service will be making contact with families, who are not getting their children to school on time, to offer their support. Miss Rosemann is here to help: familyhub@thameside.reading.sch.uk
Safe travel to school

In order to support the return to school and travel to school Brighter Furtures for Children have created a web-portal which aims to provide all the latest information. This can be found at: www.reading.gov.uk/schooltravel.
At this site, they have created an interactive map which allows users to explore and understand different travel options to schools including walking, cycling and public transport routes. They have also produced for every school in Reading a downloadable school specific infographic providing bespoke travel advice for pupils and parents to encourage safe and active travel. As well as information on walking, cycling and public transport links the infographic provides useful guidance on staying safe whilst travelling and other useful links.
